EDPB: European Data Protection Board

The EDPB does not fine anyone; its national members do (1.15 billion euros in 2025). What it publishes are the guidelines, opinions and binding decisions that determine how the GDPR is read across 30 authorities. Guidelines appear twice, first for consultation and then in final form, sometimes a year apart, and the news feed also carries national-authority items that are not EDPB positions.

What EDPB publishes

Cadence. Fourteen plenaries scheduled in 2026, roughly monthly with no August meeting. 2025: three new guideline sets, 29 Article 64 opinions, no binding decisions. 2026 brought the first binding decision since 2023.

What to treat as urgent

• Guidelines adopted for consultation with a deadline (anonymisation and web scraping for generative AI, open until October 30, 2026).
• Final guideline versions, which examiners treat as settled.
• The annual Coordinated Enforcement topic; 2026 is transparency and information obligations.

Quirks worth knowing

• No email newsletter exists; RSS is the only push channel. The EDPS newsletter is a different body.
• Documents appear in the publications feed weeks after the plenary press release.
• Query-string filters on the documents library do not work.
