FDIC: Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation

The deposit insurer and primary federal supervisor of state-chartered banks outside the Federal Reserve System. RegPing reads its press releases and Financial Institution Letters.

16 alerts · 0 urgent · 7 notice · 9 info · FDIC

The FDIC speaks to banks through Financial Institution Letters, numbered FIL-NN-YYYY, and to the public through press releases. Enforcement is disclosed once a month, on the last Friday, as a press release listing the prior month's orders; the orders themselves live in a Salesforce application that plain fetchers cannot read. The FDIC no longer runs its own RSS; its feeds are GovDelivery topic feeds holding the last three to five items.

What FDIC publishes

  • Financial Institution Letters (FIL-55-2026 and counting)
  • Press releases: monthly enforcement digest, quarterly banking profile, CRA lists, bank failures
  • Enforcement decisions and orders (dockets like FDIC-25-0056p)
  • Board matters: notational votes and open meetings
  • Consumer News and the failed bank list

Cadence. About 60 FILs and 95 press releases a year. The enforcement release lands on the last Friday of the month with roughly a four-week lag (July 2026 actions published August 28). Five bank failures in 2026 through August.

What to treat as urgent

  • FILs with a compliance date, especially joint statements issued alongside the OCC and Federal Reserve.
  • The monthly enforcement release: consent orders and prohibition orders name individuals as well as banks.
  • Bank failure announcements, which arrive on Friday evenings.

Quirks worth knowing

  • Press-release numbers are no longer shown on the redesigned site; FIL numbers are.
  • The FIL feed also carries non-FIL bulletins.
  • Old press-release URLs soft-redirect to the listing page without a 404.
  • The 'Special Alerts' channel for counterfeit instruments appears dormant.
