FTC: Federal Trade Commission
The federal consumer-protection and competition agency. RegPing reads its consumer-protection press feed, keyword-filtered to payments, lending, credit, crypto and data brokers.
0 alerts · 0 urgent · 0 notice · 0 info
The FTC publishes four to five press releases a week across every mission, so RegPing keeps only the financial-practices slice. The authoritative record is the Legal Library, where complaints, stipulated orders and matter numbers live, often on the same day as the press release; administrative dockets update there with no release at all. The FTC's Business Blog RSS feed has been frozen since 2020 even though the blog is current.
What FTC publishes
- Press releases (no serial numbers; slugged by title)
- Cases and proceedings: complaints, stipulated orders, Part 3 dockets (Matter 242-3029, Docket 9436)
- Federal Register notices and rulemakings (Negative Option Rule, Telemarketing Sales Rule, Safeguards Rule)
- Policy statements, warning-letter batches, closing letters
- Refund program announcements
Cadence. 242 press releases in 2025; 144 in 2026 through September 4. FY2025: 40 federal-court complaints and 49 orders with more than $1.8 billion in redress and disgorgement. $337 million returned to consumers in 2024.
What to treat as urgent
- Stipulated orders against payment processors, lenders and lead generators; the FTC v. Nuvei order (September 2026) sets merchant-screening expectations.
- Rulemaking notices with comment deadlines, currently the restarted Negative Option rulemaking.
- Warning-letter batches naming a practice you use.
Quirks worth knowing
- The RSS items carry no topic tags; the tags exist only on the release page.
- The Business Blog feed is stale (2020); the Data Spotlight feed lags a year.
- No RSS or API for cases, Federal Register notices or warning letters.
- Press-release slugs differ between feeds; RegPing dedupes on the canonical URL.
